Rakim and Talib Kweli will headline the New Generation Music Festival.
The free event will return to Stinson Park at Aksarben Village on Sept. 16 with the pair of big-name acts as well as a slate of local acts.
Rakim joined up with DJ Eric Barrier to form Eric B. & Rakim in 1986, and the pair released "Paid in Full," a groundbreaking hip-hop record that MTV named the best hip-hop record of all time. It's also on Rolling Stone's list of the best records ever.
Rakim is currently on tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Paid in Full."
Kweli came to prominence in Black Star, the duo he formed with Mos Def, but he has also released a string of solo albums and collaborations with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Kendrick Lamar.
Local performers will include Jocelyn, Satchel Grande, The Dilla Kids, Conny Frankko, Domestic Blend, J Crum, Rothsteen, EDEM Soul Music and Clark & Company.
The concert will be free and open to the public.
